Eyes are such a crucial facet of the body that you can't ignore. So, it's better to take care of them. You can protect your eyes using these simple tips.


Be careful about what you eat- Protection to your eyes starts right from the time you intake the food. It's advisable to take a diet rich in nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and Lutein. In addition to this, vitamin C and E also help to ward off your age related vision issues like macular degeneration or cataract. In order to maintain a good eye health, it's recommendable that you start taking the following:

  • Green and leafy veggies like spinach, Collards and Kale
  • Sea foods like Tuna, Salmon and oily fishes
  • All citrus foods, including oranges or juices
If you start taking a balanced diet, it would not only help you maintaining a healthy weight but also to keep you away from serious ailments like obesity or type-2 diabetes.

This is because too much exposure to them might cause serious ailments like macular degeneration and cataracts. In this regard, you may select those proficient blocking up to 99-100% harmful UV rays.

Use of safety eye-wear- If you deal with airborne or hazardous materials at your workplace, then it's advisable to wear safety glasses to protect your eyes. There are also a number of sports activities like racquetball, hockey and lacrosse that might lead to an eye injury.

Look away from your computer screen- Staring at your computer screen may prove costly as it may cause:
  • Headaches
  • Blurry vision
  • Dry eyes
  • Eyestrain
