How to Curb a Binge before It Happens

What's binge eating?
How to define binge eating? Well, not everyone who eats excessively large amounts of food is a Binger. It's seen that a person indulge in overeating only during certain occasions, like if he is feeling lonely, stressed or upset.


Binge eating is quite a serious disorder where the patient is characterized by compulsive eating habits that leads to the intake of an excessive amounts of food. Under this condition, the patient feels out of control for his or her actions towards consuming large quantities of food. At the same time, the patient becomes powerless to control himself from overeating.

Overeating is a kind of phenomenon that makes everyone go through at some point of time. It can happen at some special occasion or during parties or functions. But it's still different than this form of eating a number of digestive foods where people cross all the limits and end up taking a large amount of food.

Binge eating disorder makes a person embarrassed about his / her eating habits. The person still feels a compulsion about his urges but continues doing binge eating.

How to stay away from binge eating?

There must be some remedies to curb binge eating. One of the smartest ways to do this is to consume foods, like whole grain pasta, milk, cheese and fruits that release serotonin. So, foods rich in proteins and pasta tend to make you feel both energetic and refreshing.

There is yet another method to prevent binge eating. It's called as HALT. It's nothing but a way to remind you if you are feeling hungry, angry, lonely or tired before you take a decision to attack on food. These are not just simple factors, but are known as strong binge factors or a kind of trigger.

Control your binge to prevent the disorder
So, you need to figure out what you really feel about and face the issue mentally. You need to know the answers to simple questions like why you want to eat and the root cause to ascertain the fact.

Now, as a precaution to avoid excessive eating, you may always keep a list of binge busters with you. For that, you may try implementing them as soon as you feel a binge coming nearby. For example, some people have a binge buster in the form of a magazine, bubble bath and many other such things.
